Temporary Local Rule
A ball lying on a closely-mown area through the green may be lifted without penalty and cleaned. Before lifting the ball, the player must mark its position. Having lifted the ball, he/she must place it on a spot within six inches of and not nearer the hole than where it originally lay, that is not in a hazard and not on a putting green.
A player may place his/her ball only once and it is in play when it has been placed (Rule 20-4). If the ball fails to come to rest on the spot on which it is placed, Rule 20-3d applies. If the ball when placed comes to rest on the spot on which it is placed and it subsequently moves, there is no penalty and the ball must be played as it lies, unless the provisions of any other Rule apply. 

If the player fails to mark the position of the ball before lifting it or moves the ball in any other manner, such as rolling it with a club, he/she incurs a penalty of one stroke.

If a player incurs the general penalty for a breach of this Local Rule, no additional penalty under the Local Rule is applied.

Members who played on Friday, probably so they could watch football on Saturday, were the main winners of the Monthly Medal last weekend.

The Best Scratch Score was a 3 under par 66 from Andrew Grant, which after the Wednesday Medal reduces his handicap to 1. Bogeys at 7 and 17 were more than balanced by birdies at 3, 6, 8, 15 and 18.

In the First Class Stewart Weir (10) won on 63, including birdies at 5 and 11, and BIH than Keith Farthing (9) who birdied 1 and 11 but suffered from an ugly 7 at 13. Third place went to Saturday player Derek Cullen (8) on 67 and BIH including birdies at 14 and 18 than Ian Matthewson (3) who birdied 15 and 17 but bogeyed 16 and 18 but still had a BL6 than Jim Crawford (6).

Sandy McDonald (12) won the Second Class on 66 highlighted by a birdie 4 at 6. Scott Muir (15) made a rare return to form in second place on 67 despite ugly 7’s at 8 and 9. Third place went to Philip McRae (11) on 68 with Gordon Campbell (12) fourth on 69 despite dropping 5 shots on holes 1 and 2.

In the Third Class Darrel Jones (20) edged out Greg Hall (18) on the BIH on 67. Third place went to Ronnie Parker (16) on 68 with Hal Mills (19) fourth on 69.

The last midweek Medal of the season was played on Wednesday and Andrew Grant was again the winner of the Scratch Class with a 4 under par 65 with birdies at 2, 4, 6, 13, 15 and 18 and bogeys at 5 and 11.

The First Class was won by James McIntyre (9) on 63 with birdies at 1 and 17. Runner up was John Brailsford (9) on 64 with young Cameron Buist (3) third on 65 and Stewart Weir (11) fourth on 66.

Elliott Stenhouse (18) won the Second Class on 65 highlighted by a birdie 3 at 10. Ian Robertson (16) was second on 66 with a birdie at 16 and then double bogeys at 17 and 18. Andrew Godfrey (17) made a rare appearance in a medal but took third place on 69 and BIH than Owen Hutchison (17).

Next weekend is the British Legion Trophy with the Dobie Trophy on Sunday.
