Diary Event

REMINDER - The Club would remind members of the importance of good hygiene practice in the efforts to contain COVID-19. We urge every member and staff member to follow the guidance from the NHS Inform website.
In particular we would urge every member to hand sanitise before entering and after leaving Club premises and to practice safe distance contact when on Club premises.
Remember – social golf playing can only be sustained at the Club if members act responsibly and practise the previously circulated guide points about touchpoints and safe distancing.
Please help us to help you remain safe.

Following the meeting of the Club Operational Group on 18.3.20 the following update and further response actions should be noted –
• The Clubhouse is open to members only – including House members – members should not be accompanied by guests or visitors
• A stock of antibacterial gels, currently being sourced, will be located at entrances along with signage
• Members are asked to remove their clubs from lockers and trolleys from the trolley store to avoid people coming into close contact
• In our previous update the Clubhouse hours were detailed as 1000 – 1600 – it is now possible to extend those hours from 0700 to 1600, to allow early golfers access to the Locker Rooms.
• Measures are being put into place to allow the use of the locker rooms and to deny access to the main clubhouse if the situation worsens
• Further advisory signage will be rolled out across the Club premises
• Members are reminded there may be a heightened risk of contamination within toilet areas of the Club, despite an increased cleaning regime, and are asked to leave the facilities in a clean and acceptable state – in regard to the Course toilet this facility will be maintained but will be the subject of continual review.
• The continuation of the catering service will be continually reviewed
• All Bar staff have been instructed to wear latex gloves in their handling of glasses etc
• The Professionals’ shop will continue to operate between 0830 & 1600
• It was agreed that all rakes be removed from bunkers to eliminate a cross contamination risk. All bunkers would be designated GUR
• Although ball washers are still not in operation members should be cognisant that they also may present a cross contamination threat and should avoid touching same

• In regard to the playing of competitive golf members will be aware that the update of 17.3.20 informed that further work would be required to ensure that the majority of competitions could be delivered safely to avoid the risk of cross contamination by the handling of scorecards, money and use of the Club computer, the following actions have been taken in pursuit of this goal –

o The Club Manager, Club Professional and Match Convenor are exploring the use of a technological solution such as an app linked to Club VI and will report back asap – it is intended to move, where possible. to online booking from 4 April 2020
o Whilst it is intended that the knock-out competitions will be played a safe way of entering is required – the above group will also look to present a process for this
o In the case of an extended period e.g. the complete playing season, members will be asked to submit 3 supplementary scores to maintain their personal handicaps
o Significant changes will have to be made to ensure the safety of members involved in the Opening Season Captain V Vice Captain competition on Saturday 28.3.20 – a separate email will be circulated regarding this on 19.3.20
o Senior League matches – following the Board decision to deny access to the course for visitors and non-members the Seniors league matches have been cancelled, both home and away.
o Further to the update of 17.3.20 members playing the course are advised to leave the pin in thus removing a crucial touchpoint risk
• The Board will monitor the ongoing situation and will receive daily updates from the Operational Group who continue to meet daily at 0930
• In regard to the financial statements made by the UK Government in support of businesses adversely affected by the virus response, the Board are exploring all avenues to secure any appropriate assistance
• A significant number of cancellations by planned visits to the course have been received and similarly several catering events have also been cancelled. It is likely that this pattern will be repeated over the longer period.
• The Board are also engaged in evaluating the impact of the virus on Club income streams and costs of managing the response to same – once known further communication will be made to the membership
