SUPPLEMENTARY SCORES

Undernoted is a notice which has been posted explaining that Supplementary Scores can now be returned by all players regardless of handicap or status. The Entry Book for Gents and Junior Boys is kept in the Locker room on the shelf beside the Open Competition flyers and member's address details. The Entry Book for Ladies and Junior Girls is available in the Ladies Locker room.

SUPPLEMENTARY SCORES

Supplementary Scores were introduced by the CONGU Unified Handicapping System in 2009 to provide players, who for either work or family commitments or do not wish to play regular competitive golf but wish to retain a handicap which truly reflects their ability, with an alternative format in which to submit scores for handicap purposes.

Initially there were a number of restrictions however from 1st January 2011 ALL categories of Club members can return Supplementary Scores for handicapping purposes in compliance with the following conditions:-

(1) Supplementary Scores can only be returned from the member’s home course.

(2) The score must be over 18 holes over a measured course but not as part of a Qualifying or Non Qualifying Competition and can be either Stroke Play or Stableford.

(3) A
maximum of 10 Supplementary Scores may be returned in any one season.

(4) Only
ONE Supplementary Score can be returned in a week.

(5) A player intending to return a Supplementary Score must
SIGN IN in the book provided BEFORE commencement of play.

(6) The scorecard must be completed with the date and time of play, the
GROSS
score recorded at each hole and the scorecard must be signed by the player and the marker.

(7) A CSS is not calculated and adjustment to handicap will be made relative to the SSS.

(8) Stroke Play returns will be subject to Stableford/Nett Double Bogey Adjustment.

(9) Having signed in if a player does not return a card it will be treated as a “No Return” and the handicap increased by 0.1.

(10) Supplementary Scores will be recorded on the player’s Handicap Record.

Three Supplementary Scores in the course of a season will be sufficient to retain a CONGU handicap which enables a member to play in Club and Open Competitions.
