On the 10th January 2010, 76 ladies attended the informal lunch. It was wonderful to have such a splendid attendance.
The after lunch talk was given by June Thomson who is a MacMillan Nurse. She works out of The Royal Forth hospital Larbert. She gave an inspiring account of her work, not as a MacMillan nurse, but as an officer in the RAF Reserves. She illustrated with many photos and videos the conditions in which these medical teams work. She contrasted a posting in Iraq in the early days with a posting to Afghanistan where the teams were well established. The morale of the forces in these camps was very high and all the personnel worked together to create this.
The Ladies at the lunch donated a fantastic £300 to a raffle in aid of the MacMillan Charity.
The next informal lunch is Febrary 7th 2012.

The photo gallery now has some pictures taken last week when the course was snow covered. It looks a different place. Do you have any recent photographs to add to the site? If so please add them. |

As part of the Board's policy of increasing communication with members, we will be using the Members Area of the website more and more over the coming months. This article is to make members aware of this, and to encourage them to practise use of the Members Area Introduction We intend to start expanded usage of the Members Area from November 2011, and will be introducing monthly newsletters with links to articles etc, and using a new survey tool to get members views. The newsletter tool allows us to provide much richer content, with links to images, graphics, news articles etc. It also lets us see how many people read the letter, and which entries within it were of most interest to members. The first survey (which will probably come just before or after the AGM) will be a detailed multi question Member Survey. This is based on the Scottish and English Golf Union recommended questionnaire for all golf clubs, and will form the basis for future surveys. Use of both of these tools will enable us (over time) to provide better and better information to members, and to get feedback on any matter pertinent to running the Club
Our two main web based systems Most members have now registered for the Tee Booking Service - there are approx. 750 users registered at the time of writing. This is hosted by the Tee System Company (BRS) on their own website We also have our own web database - for use within our own DNGC website We have over 1000 registered users (members) on this system However there are currently 866 members who have never logged on to the members area of the website There are also a number of members who appeared to have created their own user records when the Club had already done this for them
Original creation of member user accounts When the DNGC website went live (Dec 2009), we created a user record for each member on our own system It uses your card number as the user ID. A default password has been used to enable any member to login to the members area as soon as they become a member. Once logged in, each member can then change their own particulars - name, email, password etc as required We are embarking on a strategy today (9th November) to review the user records for all members We will be in touch directly with individual members who may have duplicate accounts
An article about registration was created in 2009 and is still available to read - PRESS HERE to read it
Members Only Area This is the area within the website where we will put articles and information relevant only to members In order to access this area you will need to logon to the website, using your member user account on the website This will enable us to exclude non members from seeing this information After you have done this, a number of menu items will appear (as if by magic) From that point on you can use the website as normal
Please see also THIS ARTICLE about the members only area
A note on email addresses We have noticed that a number of members share email addresses - e.g. two members in the same house have the same email address. We would encourage members to have individual email addreses as it makes communication more accurate and avoids duplication or replication. If, for example, we wish to send newsletters to gents only but a lady has the same email address, then she would receive information as well. Most email providers can provide multiple email accounts at no extra cost, so please do this where possible
Keeping the records up to date It is also important to keep your records up to date. If you get a new email address, please login and update it on our records NOTE - at the moment, you will need to do this in two places - i) on the tee reservation system and ii) in the members area. These are two separate systems on two entirely different websites, and, although we were promised a replication method from the tee system provider, it has at present failed to materialise. Therefore please change it in both places until further notice if you have any queries please email
